FOTOS CORONAVIRUS

I wanted to show you some photos of SARS-COV-2, they are really cool!




They are taken using an electron microscope. The images are black and white so they color them later using a computer.

This is the virus:

It is called a coronavirus because of those red spikes that look like crown spikes thus "corona" 👑

Spikes are proteins, and they are the keys 🗝 to get into the human cells they infect.

This is the structure of a coronavirus:

The basic parts are the spikes, the envelope, made of fat and the RNA which contains the information to replicate the virus.

The envelope protects the RNA and this is really important: We can destroy the virus by destroying the envelope! as it is made of fat we can destroy it using soap and water at 25°C and above. Alcohol 65% pure and above also works.

So it enters the cell with a forged key (the spike) and then forces the cell to replicate the virus non stop:

The cell is the grey thing in the middle, the viruses getting out in yelllow. The new replicas of the virus get out the cell and go to infect other cells spreading the disease through the body.
