NATURAL SCIENCE DEL MARTES 31 DE MARZO

Yo, what's up kids?

Today we are going to learn about the other energy sources, the non-renewable energy sources.

NON RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

There is a limited amount of them. Once we finish the supply there is no more.

And even worse, they pollute water, soil and air, and some are very dangerous to mine, like coal.

We have two types: fossil fuels and rare minerals.

FOSSIL FUELS
Oil is a liquid that we burn for energy. When we extract oil we also get natural gas.

Millions of years ago living things remains got trapped under the surface of earth and...

Then comes coal...

And the last is uranium. We use it in nuclear power plants. It is radioactive. It means that it can kill you without even touching it. When we use it in power plants the waste it creates is radioactive for thousand of years.

Non renewable sources of energy are the cause for the Earth's pollution and are dangerous. We have to move away from them as soon as possible.

Now to the practice!

(1) Make a list of disadvantages of renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Which type do you think is better?

(2) Find about Fukushima, Chernobyl, Prestige, Exxon Valdes. Write three sentences or more explaining each one USING YOUR OWN WORDS.
